Scoring can be defined as the process of making a crease in the paper where the fold line will occur. This enhances the appearance of the fold which acts as a guideline for folding as well as reduces the chances for the paper to crack.
For heavy weight papers like card stock, scoring is done before folding. Where the light weighted papers fold without the need for scoring, heavy weighted or thick papers require a wider score for better folding.
